EMDR Consultation

Deepen your EMDR practice.

EMDR consultation is more than reviewing protocols. It is an opportunity to strengthen your clinical judgment, deepen case conceptualization, and become more confident in knowing when, and how, to adapt EMDR to the person in front of you.

Whether you are newer to EMDR, pursuing an EMDRIA credential, or an experienced clinician navigating complex cases, consultation provides a place to ask questions, think through challenges, and continue developing your EMDR practice.

Who Is EMDR Consultation For?

EMDR consultation is not only for clinicians pursuing certification. It may be a good fit for clinicians who:

  • Recently completed EMDR basic training and want additional support
  • Are working toward EMDRIA Certification
  • Are pursuing EMDRIA Approved Consultant status
  • Want greater confidence with case conceptualization and target selection
  • Work with complex or developmental trauma
  • Encounter dissociation or protective responses that complicate processing
  • Have clients who become stuck or are not progressing as expected
  • Are experienced EMDR clinicians who value ongoing consultation

Different Paths. Individualized Consultation.

Where you are in your development as an EMDR clinician matters. Consultation can be tailored to your experience, goals, and the work you are doing.

Ongoing Clinical Consultation

You do not need to be pursuing an EMDRIA credential to benefit from consultation.

Ongoing consultation provides a place to think through challenging cases, strengthen case conceptualization, refine target selection and sequencing, and continue developing confidence and flexibility in your EMDR practice.

EMDRIA Certification

For clinicians pursuing EMDRIA Certification, consultation can support continued development in case conceptualization, application of the eight-phase protocol, target selection and sequencing, clinical decision-making, and the thoughtful use of EMDR across a range of client presentations.

EMDRIA Consultant Development

For experienced EMDR clinicians pursuing EMDRIA Approved Consultant status, consultation shifts toward developing your role as a consultant.

This may include strengthening advanced case conceptualization, learning to provide effective clinical feedback, supporting the development of other EMDR therapists, and developing your own approach to consultation.

If you are pursuing EMDRIA Certification or interested in becoming an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, contact us for a free 15-minute phone consultation. We’ll learn more about your goals and help determine which consultation option may be the best fit.

Dr. Neeley Hughey

Dr. Neeley Hughey

EMDRIA Approved Consultant

Dr. Neeley Hughey brings more than 25 years of clinical experience to EMDR consultation, with particular expertise in complex and developmental trauma, attachment trauma, dissociation, and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).

Her consultation approach goes beyond simply applying the EMDR protocol. She helps clinicians strengthen case conceptualization, recognize what may be interfering with processing, and make thoughtful decisions about preparation, target selection, sequencing, and treatment pacing.

Dr. Hughey also integrates IFS-informed principles into EMDR consultation when appropriate. This can be particularly helpful when clinicians are working with protective parts, internal conflict, dissociation, attachment injuries, or clients who have difficulty moving into or through trauma processing.

Her goal is to help clinicians develop greater confidence and flexibility while maintaining fidelity to EMDR therapy.

Build confidence without losing clinical curiosity.

Good EMDR work requires more than knowing the protocol. It requires understanding the person, recognizing what may be happening beneath the surface, and knowing when to proceed, when to slow down, and when a different approach may be needed.

Consultation provides a place to think through those decisions with support.
