Pricing & Policies

Straight answers about cost.

Therapy is personal. Pricing is too. Whether you’re using insurance or paying directly, we want you to understand your options.

Using insurance

Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and Curative PPO plans, and with United Healthcare/Optum PPO plans. We are not in network with HMO plans.

Insurance participation varies by therapist. Visit Meet Our Team to see which insurance plans each therapist is in-network with, or call or text us and we’ll help you find the right fit.

Want to know what your sessions will cost?

Call or text us today. We can verify your benefits and help you understand your estimated cost before your first appointment.

01

No two policies are alike

Benefits, deductibles, copays and mental health coverage can vary from one policy to the next, even between plans offered by the same insurance company.

02

Verification is not a guarantee

We can verify your benefits and help you estimate your cost, but your insurance company makes the final determination when the claim is processed.

03

Using insurance requires a diagnosis

Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis in order for us to bill your plan. Your therapist will talk with you about this as part of your care.

04

Your insurer may request information

Insurance companies may request clinical information to determine coverage or medical necessity. We only provide information as required for billing and coverage purposes.

One phone call tells you your number.

We’re happy to help you understand your benefits and estimate what you may pay. Because every plan is different, your insurance company makes the final determination. If you’d like to check your benefits directly, call the member services number on the back of your card and ask these four questions.

  1. Do I have outpatient mental health benefits, and is there a visit limit?
  2. What is my copay or coinsurance for each session?
  3. Do I have a deductible, and how much of it is left this year?
  4. Do I need a referral or preauthorization before I start?

Benefit information is an estimate rather than a guarantee of payment. Your final responsibility is determined after your insurance claim is processed.

Other insurance situations

Worth knowing early

Couples and family sessions are usually self pay.

Insurance covers treatment for a mental health condition, so relationship difficulties on their own generally do not qualify. Couples and family sessions are generally self pay, unless the treatment meets the insurance company's medical-necessity requirements for an identified client: one person with a diagnosis, where involving their partner or family is part of treating that condition.

Work focused on communication, conflict, intimacy, rebuilding trust, premarital questions or simply strengthening your relationship is normally self pay. Coverage varies by plan and cannot be promised.

If we are not in network with you

You may still have out of network benefits.

Many plans reimburse part of the cost when you see a provider outside their network. When appropriate, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement.

A superbill is used to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, so it includes a diagnosis. If you would like a superbill to submit for possible out of network reimbursement, a diagnosis is required.

What comes back depends on your plan and is not guaranteed.

What do the different clinician levels mean?

Our therapists are at different stages of their professional careers, from graduate students completing supervised clinical training to independently licensed clinicians with years of experience.

  • Graduate Student Therapist

A master's-level or doctoral student completing clinical training under the supervision of a licensed clinician. This is our most affordable private-pay option.

  • Registered Clinician

A master's-level clinician who has graduated and is completing the required supervised clinical experience toward independent licensure. A helpful comparison is a physician completing a medical residency: they have finished their degree and are practicing in their profession, while continuing to work under supervision as they complete the requirements for independent practice.

  • Licensed Clinician

A clinician who has completed the education, supervised clinical experience, examination, and licensing requirements to practice independently. Some of our licensed clinicians also have advanced training and specialty certifications.

Choosing to pay directly

If you choose to pay for therapy yourself, Coastal Wellness does not require a mental health diagnosis for you to receive care. This also applies when using an HSA or FSA card for eligible services.

When insurance is billed, or when you request a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement, a diagnosis is required by the insurance company.

The practical stuff

A few things worth knowing.

Payment

At your appointment

Payment is due at the time of your appointment. We keep a card on file to make payment for session fees, copays, deductibles and other balances as simple as possible.

24 hours

We know life happens.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice whenever possible. You can call and leave a message or text us at any time, 24 hours a day, to let us know you need to cancel. You do not need to wait until the office is open.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice and missed appointments are charged the full session fee. Emergencies and unexpected situations do happen. If something comes up, please reach out to us as soon as you can.

20 minutes

Arriving late

If a client arrives more than 20 minutes late, the appointment may need to be canceled and may be subject to the full session fee unless the client has contacted the office.

  • Balances. If there is a balance on your account or we’re unable to process a payment, our office team will reach out to you so we can help get things resolved before your next appointment.

A Good Faith Estimate, in writing.

If you do not have insurance, or you have insurance but do not plan to have a claim submitted, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing of what your care is expected to cost, before your care begins. You can ask at any time, before you schedule anything, and we provide it within three business days.

If a provider's bill is at least $400 more than that provider's estimate, you can dispute it. You have 120 calendar days from the date on the bill.

Ask any member of our staff, or call (321) 757-4015.

Required under the federal No Surprises Act, 45 CFR 149.610. More at cms.gov/nosurprises (opens in a new tab).
Still working it out?

Ask us before you rule it out.

Cost is the most common reason people put off calling, and it is often the easiest thing to solve. Tell us your plan and your situation and we will tell you honestly what is possible, before you book anything.
