Privacy Policy

This page explains what this website collects, why, and what happens to it. It covers the website at coastalwellness.net and nothing else.
In short
- You can read everything on this site without telling us who you are.
- The only thing you can send us through the site is a review, and you can leave your name off it.
- The site counts visits with Google Analytics, which does not tell us who you are, and it shows no ads.
- Therapy records, appointments, insurance and payments are not handled through this website.
Your care is not handled here
This website is where you learn about the practice. It is not part of your care. It does not hold therapy notes, appointment details, insurance or payment information, or anything else clinical.
Please do not send health information through this website. If you want to talk about your care, call the office at (321) 757-4015.
Leaving a review
The Reviews page has a form for telling others about your experience. It asks for three things: a star rating, your review, and, if you like, your name. It does not ask for an email address or a phone number.
- What is kept. The rating, your words, the date, and your name if you gave one. They are stored on this website so the practice can read them.
- Posting anonymously. If you check the box that says Post this anonymously, your name is not shown and is not stored with the review.
- Where it appears. A review may appear on the Reviews page, either as soon as it is sent or after someone at the practice has read it. Write only what you are comfortable with anyone reading, and please leave out health details.
- What the practice can do with it. Publish it, hide it, reply to it or delete it. Nobody can change the words you wrote.
- The email the office receives. When a review arrives, the office gets an email saying so, with its star rating and a link. The email does not contain your words or your name. Those stay on the website, behind a password.
- Stopping spam. To slow down automated spam, the site keeps a scrambled form of the internet address a review came from for ten minutes, so the same connection cannot send another one straight away. It is not stored with your review, and after ten minutes it is gone.
You can ask us to take a review down at any time by calling the office.
Calling, texting and emailing
There is no contact form on this site. When you call (321) 757-4015, text (321) 286-7033 or email contact@coastalwellness.net, you reach the office directly. Those calls and messages do not pass through this website and are not stored on it.
Ordinary email and text messages are not fully private on their way between phones and computers, so please think about how much personal detail you include.
The client portal
The Book a Free Consult buttons on this site take you to our client portal. When you follow one, you are leaving this website. The portal is run by SimplePractice, a separate company, on its own site. What you enter there goes to that service, not to this website, and SimplePractice’s privacy policy explains how it is handled.
What your browser shares when you visit
Every website receives some basic information from the browser when a page loads: your internet (IP) address, the kind of browser and device you use, the page you asked for, and the page that sent you here. If you use the search box, the words you search for are part of the page address too. Otherwise you do not type any of this in. It is part of how the internet works. Here is who receives it on this site.
WordPress.com, our host
The site is hosted by WordPress.com, which is run by a company called Automattic. WordPress.com delivers the pages, pictures and typefaces, keeps technical records of visits to run the site and keep it secure, and measures how quickly pages load.
It also counts visits for us. What the practice sees are totals, such as how many times a page was read, which websites sent people here, and which links to other websites were followed, such as the client portal. It does not tell us who you are. Automattic’s privacy policy has the details.
Maps
The office maps, on the Contact page and at the bottom of each page, are drawn in your browser from OpenStreetMap data, served by OpenFreeMap. When a map comes into view, your browser fetches the map pieces from OpenFreeMap, which receives your internet address. No account or cookie is involved. The Get directions links open Google Maps, where Google’s privacy policy applies.
Videos
A few pages include a video played by YouTube, which belongs to Google. Until you press play, the only thing that comes from YouTube is the video’s still picture. When you press play, the player loads in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, your browser connects to YouTube, and Google’s privacy policy covers what YouTube collects.
Reviews from Google
When the Reviews page shows reviews people left on Google, the website asks Google for them each time the page is opened and does not store them, and WordPress.com is told not to keep a copy of that page. The Google rating on the homepage comes from Google the same way, and is not stored either. Reviewers’ pictures, when shown, load from Google. The Write a Google review link takes you to Google, where Google’s own terms apply.
Links to other websites
Some pages and articles link to other websites, such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Once you follow a link away from this site, that website’s own privacy policy applies.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to understand, in total, how the site is used: which pages are visited, how visitors found the site, the type of device, the general area they are in, and whether someone pressed Call, Text or Book a Free Consult. It does not tell us who you are, and nothing you type on the site is sent to it. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser, and Google’s privacy policy covers what Google collects. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Cookies
Apart from Google Analytics, described above, this site places no cookies of its own, and it uses no advertising cookies. A YouTube video, once you press play, may store cookies or similar data in your browser for YouTube. You can block or clear cookies in your browser’s settings, and the site will work the same.
If you work at the practice and sign in to manage the site, WordPress uses cookies to keep you signed in.
Who can see what you send
People at the practice who sign in to the website can read the reviews that arrive, including ones that are not published. WordPress.com stores the site, including its backups, for the practice. The site has no advertising, and nothing you send through it is passed to advertisers.
How long it is kept
- Reviews stay on the site until the practice deletes them.
- The scrambled internet address used against spam is gone after ten minutes.
- WordPress.com and Google keep their own records under their own policies, linked above.
Your choices
- Read the site without sending anything at all.
- Leave a review without your name, by checking Post this anonymously.
- Ask us to take a review down, by calling the office.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser.
If this policy changes
If the website starts doing something new with information, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
Questions
If you have a question about this policy, or about something you sent through the website, call (321) 757-4015, text (321) 286-7033 or email contact@coastalwellness.net.
