Individual therapy

Therapy that fits the person, not the other way around.

Individual therapy gives you a place to understand what’s happening, work through what’s getting in the way, and make meaningful changes in your life.

People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes something specific has happened. Sometimes life has gradually become harder to manage. And sometimes there isn’t one particular problem: you just know something isn’t working the way you want it to.

At Coastal Wellness, we don’t believe everyone needs the same kind of therapy. Our therapists bring different specialties, backgrounds, personalities, and approaches to their work. That gives us the ability to help you find someone who fits what you need, not simply assign you to whoever has an opening.

You don’t have to know exactly where to start.

You may be considering therapy because of anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, major life changes, or simply feeling overwhelmed.

You may also want to understand patterns that keep repeating, improve relationships or boundaries, develop new ways of coping, or better understand yourself and the experiences that have shaped you.

And sometimes people come to therapy without being able to name exactly what they want to change.

That’s okay. You don’t need to figure it all out before you begin.

Different people. Different approaches.

Our therapists draw from a range of evidence-based and specialized approaches. The approach your therapist uses will depend on your needs, goals, preferences, and what you are working through.

These may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • EMDR Therapy. Learn more
  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Learn more
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Attachment-based approaches
  • Mindfulness and somatic approaches
  • Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET). Learn more
  • Vibroacoustic Therapy. Learn more

Some people benefit from practical strategies and concrete skills. Others need more space to explore experiences, relationships, or patterns that have developed over time. For many people, therapy includes both.

Your therapist can adapt the work as your needs and goals change.

The relationship matters.

Experience and training matter. So does the relationship you have with your therapist.

Therapy works best when you can talk openly, ask questions, give feedback, and tell your therapist when something isn’t working for you.

Because our team includes therapists with different areas of expertise, personalities, and therapeutic styles, we can help you find someone whose experience and approach make sense for you.

And if the fit doesn’t feel right, we can help you find someone else on our team who may be a better match.

In person or online.

Individual therapy is available in person at our Coastal Wellness locations and through secure telehealth.

Insurance participation, scheduling, populations served, and specialties vary by therapist.
