When your body needs a different way to slow down.
Stress doesn’t only show up in our thoughts. It can also be felt in the body, as tension, restlessness, disrupted sleep, physical discomfort, or difficulty slowing down.

Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT) combines low-frequency sound and gentle vibration to create an immersive sensory experience that may support relaxation and a greater sense of calm.
What Is Vibroacoustic Therapy?
During a vibroacoustic therapy session, you relax on a specialized bed designed to allow low-frequency sound vibrations to be both heard and gently felt throughout your body.
Music is paired with the vibrations to create an immersive sensory experience. You remain fully clothed, and there is nothing you need to talk through or actively work on during the session.
You simply get comfortable and experience the sound and vibration.
Why Vibroacoustic Therapy?
People may explore Vibroacoustic Therapy as a complementary approach when stress or discomfort is showing up in the body, including:
- Chronic stress or difficulty relaxing
- Feeling anxious, restless, or persistently on alert
- Muscle tension
- Sleep difficulties
- Chronic pain or physical discomfort
- Burnout
- Trauma-related stress
- Difficulty slowing down or settling the body
VAT may also appeal to people who want a restorative, body-based experience that doesn’t require talking.
What to Expect
You’ll remain fully clothed and remove only your shoes before getting comfortable on the vibroacoustic bed.
Once the session begins, music and low-frequency vibrations create an immersive sensory experience that you can both hear and gently feel.
Some people experience deep relaxation. Others become sleepy or simply enjoy having uninterrupted time to be still. Your experience may be different from someone else’s, and that’s okay.
There is no “right” way to experience a VAT session.
Sound, Vibration & the Nervous System
Low-frequency sound isn’t only something you hear: it can also be experienced physically through the body.
Researchers are studying how sound and vibration may influence the autonomic nervous system, the system involved in the body’s stress and relaxation responses. Research has explored changes in physiological measures such as heart-rate variability, as well as the potential role of vibroacoustic stimulation in supporting relaxation, stress regulation, pain, sleep, and emotional well-being.
Early research has also explored tuned vibroacoustic stimulation in Veterans experiencing PTSD. While the findings are promising, this remains an evolving area of study and more research is needed to understand who may benefit and how.
VAT is a complementary approach. It is not a replacement for psychotherapy, medical treatment, or other care you may need.
