Hi!
My name is Angela Bryan, and I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. I am so thankful to be part of the Coastal Wellness Team.
I was born and raised in Germany, and since have lived and worked in several countries and learned to adapt and grow. I recently moved from Athens, GA, to the Melbourne area with my husband after raising 3 children, and already love it here.
Being a therapist is more than a job to me. Early in life, I set out to overcome my own childhood trauma and seek healing. Life is hard, and it can get too much to try and make it alone. You are not alone! Trauma is a common human experience. It touches people’s lives all over the world regardless of our demographic or culture; it causes pain and wires our brains and nervous systems in ways that can derail healthy development and relationships. My own personal healing journey brought me restoration, joy, and a passion for coming alongside people to help them find relief from pain, discover their untouchable value, and move towards thriving.
Over the past 20+ years, I worked as a mental health counselor, migrant counselor, and behavior specialist. Next to counseling, I coach parents and professionals in trauma-informed care practices, I work with school districts to support high-needs students, their families, and teachers, and coach professionals in effective team building and communication. My passion project is my nonprofit organization I co-founded 17 years ago, Haven of Hope International. It started with one orphanage in Bolivia and has since grown into several safe, loving homes for children in South America, Africa, Florida, Europe, and the Caribbean. We are striving to raise the bar for care in orphanages, as the reality is that most vulnerable children in this world don’t get adopted but grow up in group homes. I meet with international orphanage staff via Zoom and through regular travel and help them learn how to deliver therapeutic care to traumatized children.
In therapy I use EMDR and other evidence-based practices, such as TBRI and TF-CBT as tools to move forward to a better place. I work with children, adolescents and adults and when appropriate I incorporate art, sand tray work, and therapeutic play into therapy.
I love to travel, learn languages, and explore different cultures. The ocean is my happy place, and living close to the coast is a dream come true.
My family and friends are very important to me. I know what it’s like to be far from the people you love, to lose people you love, what it is like to start over, overcome, grow, rebuild, and heal from pain.
I would love to join you on your path. You don’t have to go it alone. I encourage you to reach out to us at Coastal Wellness. 321-757-4015. - I am looking forward to connecting with you!
